What we collect when you plan with Behind The Aisle, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

01

Who we are

In short

Behind The Aisle runs this website and the planning workspace inside it.

Behind The Aisle (“BTA”, “we”, “us”) operates thisisbta.com, including our Planning Guides, Planning Tools, The Heirloom Edit and your planning profile. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use any of them.

02

What we collect

In short

Only what we need to run your account, save your planning, and improve BTA.

We collect information you give us, and a limited amount of information collected automatically when you use BTA.

Account
Your name, username, email address and password (stored hashed, never in plain text), or the name, email and account identifier Google shares if you sign in with Google.
Profile
Your planning role (bride, groom or planner), home city if you add it, and your email preferences.
Events
Event names, types, dates, locations, estimated guest counts, budgets and notes you add.
Saved items
Planning Guides you save and the results of Planning Tools, such as budgets, timelines, guest lists, run sheets and vendor briefs.
Heirloom Edit applications
If you apply to be part of a production: your name, business name, vendor type, location, social profile, website, email, phone and the statement you write.
Usage
Pages viewed, tools opened and items saved, linked to a temporary browsing session rather than your name. Our hosting provider also processes standard technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver and secure the site.
03

How we use it

In short

To give you your planning workspace, keep it safe, and make BTA better.

Run your workspace
Create your account, store your events and saved items, and make them available when you return.
Improve BTA
Understand which Planning Guides and Planning Tools are useful so we can improve them and decide what to build next.
Communicate
Send account and security messages, such as sign-in codes and password resets, and planning emails only if you have opted in.
Productions
Review Heirloom Edit applications and contact applicants we would like to work with.
Protect
Prevent fraud and abuse, and keep BTA secure.
04

Information about other people

In short

You may enter details about guests and others; please only add what you have a right to share.

Some Planning Tools, such as the guest list and run sheet, let you enter names and details about other people. We store this information only to provide the tool to you. It is never visible to other BTA users, and we do not contact those people.

05

What we don’t do

In short

We don’t sell your personal information or share your events with vendors.

We do not sell or rent personal information. In this version of BTA, we do not share your events, budgets or saved items with vendors, and we do not use your information for advertising on other websites.

06

Who we share it with

In short

Trusted service providers who help us run BTA, and only when required by law.

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions:

Hosting and security
Vercel, to deliver and protect the site.
Database and sign-in
Supabase, to store your account, planning data and usage statistics, and to send account emails.
Social sign-in
Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
Email delivery
Our email provider, to send account and planning messages.
Legal and transfers
Where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.
07

Cookies and local storage

In short

Small files that keep you signed in and remember your work.

We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember unsaved Planning Tool drafts and settings, and measure how BTA is used. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block them in your browser settings, but some features, such as staying signed in, may stop working.

08

How long we keep it

In short

As long as your account is open, then we delete it.

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, events and saved items are deleted immediately, except where we need to keep information to meet legal obligations. Backups are cleared within a further 90 days. Heirloom Edit applications are kept for up to 24 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

09

Your choices and rights

In short

You can access, correct, export or delete your information at any time.

You can update most of your information, or delete your account, from Edit profile. You can also ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it, and you can unsubscribe from planning emails at any time from Edit profile or using the link in any planning email.

Depending on where you live, including California and the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights. We will respond to requests within the time required by applicable law, and we will not treat you differently for exercising them.

10

Security

In short

We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are hashed, new accounts confirm their email before use, and each account’s planning data is accessible only to that account. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

11

Children

In short

BTA is not intended for anyone under 16.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12

International transfers

In short

Your information may be processed in the United States.

BTA is operated from Maryland, in the United States. If you use BTA from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, with safeguards required by applicable law.

13

Changes to this policy

In short

We’ll tell you before material changes take effect.

We may update this policy as BTA grows, for example when we introduce vendor features. We will update the date at the top, and for material changes we will notify you by email or in BTA before they take effect.
